    Talking About Your Condition

    Green Box Background

Being diagnosed with heart valve disease can be scary. You may feel overwhelmed or experience anxiety or depression. You do not have to face it alone. Communicating with your friends and family members is an important part of dealing with your heart valve disease diagnosis.

Talking to Family Members and Friends

As you share news of your diagnosis, keep in mind that your friends and family members may be afraid, too. The more you can talk about what's happening and what to expect, the more they can be there to encourage, comfort and support you.

Your loved ones can help you research and understand your illness; they can even develop lists of questions to ask your doctor. It's always a good idea to bring a family member with you to your appointments so they can hear the same advice you hear and also ask questions.
