It will take some time for your body to heal and, as you recover, you will need to rely on others for help. Discussing what to expect with those around you will allow you to focus on a healthy recovery.

Because there are serious risks and complications that can occur following any surgery, it is important that you are honest and open about how you are feeling. If you are experiencing any symptoms of infection or complications, you or your family members should contact your doctor right away.
Your family and friends can help you establish and work toward your recovery goals. Talk to them about your physical therapy or rehabilitation plan and guidelines for exercise and diet. And if you need help, be sure to ask for it.
