Heart failure symptoms may include:

• Fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle weakness or pain and possible lightheadedness, dizziness and nausea during exercise
• Shortness of breath that may or may not be related to exercise or exertion
• Severe swelling, especially of the legs and ankles
• Swelling or pain in the abdomen
• Trouble sleeping (waking up short of breath, using more pillows)
• Frequent dry, hacking cough
• Increased fatigue, feeling tired or dizzy
• Loss of appetite
• Sudden weight gain
